NAD+

MODERATE EVIDENCE

Also known as: Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide

Sold as a supplement/research material; IV and injectable use is not FDA-approved

Educational Overview
A coenzyme central to cellular energy metabolism. Precursors are widely studied; direct NAD+ administration is less well characterised.
Research Mechanism
Central to redox reactions and sirtuin/PARP activity. Most human data concerns oral precursors (NR, NMN) rather than injected NAD+.
Areas of Study
  • Precursor supplementation (human trials)
  • Ageing biology (preclinical)
Safety Considerations
Oral precursors are generally well tolerated in studies. Injectable/IV NAD+ is not an approved therapy and is less studied.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does NAD+ reverse ageing?
No. Research is active and interesting, but claims of reversing ageing outrun the human evidence.
